ASTM E1732-25e1 Standard Terminology Relating to Forensic Sciences is the master terminology standard for all ASTM E30 standards. E1732 was first published in 1996 and was reformatted in2024. The standard is updated at least two times per year. This standard for terminology is published by ASTM International. Join us for a deep dive into E1732 and learn about its history and evolution, the other “master” terminology standards in E30, and the Subcommittee’s plans for continuous improvement.

Abstract
ASTM E1732-25e1 Standard Terminology Relating to Forensic Sciences is the master terminology standard for all ASTM E30 standards. The standard is designed to be a compilation of all terms and definitions in all E30’s standards. The instructor will provide the history behind the evolution of this standard and discuss challenges encountered in attempts to improve consistency in the use of terms across various forensic disciplines.

In this webinar, we will discuss ASTM E1732-25e1, including the scope, significance, organization and maintenance. The instructor will provide an overview of the notable changes in the 2025version, along with plans to improve the standard in future revisions. Additionally, the instructor will provide an overview of each discipline specific master terminology standard within the ASTME30 Committee and recent Bylaw changes to improve their maintenance.
