2022 FSEC NJIT Program

The American Academy of Forensic Sciences along with the New Jersey Institute of Technology is pleased to present the 2022 Forensic Science Education Conferences for Middle and High School STEM Teachers.

FSEC - Helping bring forensic science to the classroom.

 

A full schedule of exciting hands-on presentations will be provided at the June 27 - June 29, 2022, at the New Jersey Institute of Technology Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science and the Center for Pre-College Programs.
An array of forensic investigative science topics will be presented. Included will be an overview of basic crime scene procedures, laboratory exercises and instruction on fingerprint recovery, blood stain pattern analysis, forensic anthropology, forensic toxicology and biology, along with current trends in DNA analysis methods. A field exercise will also be included involving the collection and preservation of forensic entomological (insect) evidence and associated taphonomy at the death scene. In addition, attendees will be instructed on preparing and conducting forensic related laboratory experiments from “Forensic Science Laboratory Manual and Workbook” published in 2009 by CRC Press and written by Thomas Kubic and Nicholas Petraco. Attendees will take with them a wealth of information and hands-on training experience for use in their own classrooms and laboratories. Workshop breakouts will include:

  • Blood Spatter/Serology and more!
  • Forensic Entomology & Outdoor Scene Photography
